How can I record a TV show from my Directv box to my Mac?
Do I need to buy anything?

You're going to need some sort of video input box. That way you can input a composite or S-Video or even component line int o your computer. Then you would use a video editing program to record the feed.

Like Haythem said, you need a video capturing device. Now, I do not have a Mac but I do know some devices for it. EyeTV is one device that acts as a TV tuners as well as recording raw video. Also, I am pretty sure Pinnacle makes some capture cards for Mac's. Then you need to use a capturing program or video editing software to record the show on to the Mac.
