I'd certainly go with the Macbook if you can do without the Firewire port. The Pro is just too big and heavy to lug around everyday.

I have a MBP (MacBook Pro) of the Santa Rosa generation (2 gen. ago) and it's not "big and heavy" at all... And I suppose the new MBP's are even lighter. I would definitely go for the MBP instead of the MB. But it totally depends on what you use it for. If you're a graphics designer and you need the space on the screen, go for it! Also if you often use CPU intensive applications, rather go for the MBP than for the MB :D

I work with MacBooks every day....both with the small one and with the Pro version. If you have the money I'd say definitely buy the Pro. The Pro is better in all aspects and the weight is about the same between the two. Go Pro!
